Hi everyone! My apologies for not updating for so long, but lots of travel updates to share!
Halfway through June, my dear best friend Ava came to visit me and we spent two weeks together. We went to Luxembourg for a concert, spent a few days in Düsseldorf, Amsterdam, and Paris. If you have ever taken a trip with your best friend, you know how beautiful and fun of an experience that it is. I will attach many pictures, but to summarize we experienced the glory of budget travel (which I actually prefer, I think it provides more of a unique experience) all of our hostels were great, many grocery store meals with a bottle of wine were enjoyed, and oh my god we walked so much. Ava’s favorite city was Amsterdam, and she said she would like to study abroad there, and mine was Paris. I actually highly recommend Luxembourg, we were only there for 2 days but it is BEAUTIFUL, super clean, nice nature and people. My Luxembourg highlight was definitely the concert we went too, we saw a band called Big Thief and we were second row because of how small the venue was. My Düsseldorf highlight was just being able to show my best friend around my new home, because that also made it more real for me. My Amsterdam highlight was honestly just sitting by the river and eating a snack with Ava, the art museums, and just walking around. My Paris highlight was of course the art, but really just Paris as a whole. I know it’s a cliche, but I really fell in love with Paris and the Parisian way of life, the people, the culture, the food, the art, the architecture, everything. Oh but I will say, we were in Paris during the heatwave. That was not fun. I mean it when I say from the early morning until the late night I was just completely drenched in sweat. Ava and I shared my 32 oz waterbottle one day, and we refilled it 7 times and didn’t pee once, if that tells you anything about how much we were sweating. But even though the Parisian heatwave almost killed us, Paris still has my heart.
